Bertha Marie Arseneault Finnigan
(1922 - 2023)

Bertha passed away peacefully March 22, 2023, with Lynn and Glenn by her side at Comox Valley Seniors Village in Courtenay, British Columbia.

She was born March 29, 1922 in Rogersville, New Brunswick. She was the second oldest in a family of nine, the children of Christine and Willie Arseneault. Following the Great Depression and World War II she married Leandre Finnigan also of Rogersville NB.

The two were married in Rogersville, on June 11, 1946. Early in their marriage Leandre joined the RCAF and took on the nick name Pat because they didn’t know how to say Leandre. Together they raised nine children, same order as her siblings in the Arseneault family. They moved from Chatham NB, to St Magarets NB, to Ottawa ON and finally Carleton Place ON after Leandre’s retirement. In 1970, Leandre passed away and at a young age Bertha was widowed penny-less with nine Children.

Bertha’s faith was strong and she continued to raise her family until they were out on their own. Over the years she lost her three youngest sons at different times. She remained strong for her family. Bertha was determined not to be a burden on her family and over the years lived independently in Montreal Quebec, Cumberland BC, Carleton Place Ontario and finally Courtenay British Columbia.

Remembered and cherished by her beloved children Joann (Steve) Myrchak of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, Irene (Gilles) Richard of Ingleside Ontario, Donald (Lynda) Finnigan of Carleton Place Ontario, Jimmy (Birgit) Finnigan of South River Ontario, Christine (Claud) Bertrand of St. Hypolite Quebec and Lynn (Glen) Moseley of Courtenay BC.
